VALEDICTORY ADDRESS

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Honorable guests, magnanimous school president and directress, Mrs. Patrocinia A. Mauricio, school administrators, teachers, beloved parents, schoolmates, and friends… Good evening.

Tonight marks another milestone of my life. Considering the fact that we are gathered here at this particular time is a significant flourish of this peculiar field in our history.

Counting time for high school life, our hourglass now becomes empty and is needed to be inverted for the opening of the blank chapters of our lives to the next level. Memories serve as permanent ink printed in our tableau. The thorns that we stepped on were removed and the wounds were healed. Our prism reflected diverse multihued gleeful souls that tinted Picasso’s masterpiece.

Personally, I had my main reason why I handed my trust to

. It was my longtime dream to become a UPian. As proven by results,

Southridge Private

High School

is a great manufacturer of entrance examination passers in various prestigious universities. I knew by then that I would acquire a good foundation in preparation for my college years. That is how my futuristic mind works. As always, this high standard academic institution did not fail me. I will be one of the “Iskolars ng Bayan” soon.

Being a clueless newbie before, amendment was really hard to work on. It was new for me doing investigatory projects, term papers, reports, and research works. Fortunately, I found the feathers to build my wings – my crying shoulders, helping hands, and listening ears. These influential people made me forget the word “weakness”. They filled the holes within me. I do not know if the words “thank you” would be enough to show my appreciation to those who have seen my endeavors and witnessed my metamorphosis. Even Mister Webster could not provide me the appropriate word because it is only found deep within the folios of my heart.

Above all, I would like to express my profoundest gratitude to the Almighty God for He has been with me all the way. At times when I feel everything else fails, He was there to uplift me. Having aching knees and overflowing tears is really worth it.

To my supportive family, I would like to express thanks to you because you dispensed encouragement for me to move on. I make sure that your sacrifices will be reasonable. I hope I really made you proud. To my Papa, who is getting tired of work just to supply my financial needs, your toiling is not in vain. To my Mama, who stays with me during my sleepless nights, rendering assistance, I would truly treasure your caress. When the time comes that your hair all becomes gray, I will take care of you like the way you did to me. To my UPian sisters, who served as role models for me, your reference materials had helped me a lot.

To my affable mentors, I am grateful for the ideas and values you inculcated in us. The deep tagalog words from Mrs. Yuan, the dizzying numbers from Mr. Carubio, the proper military attitude taught by Mr. Coronado, the historical socio-economic problems showed by Ms. Payawal, the “nosebleed” vocabulary given by Mrs. Delos Reyes, the mind-bugging computer programs explained by Mrs. Alarcon, the different courses like BS Nursing and BS Mechanical Engineering we took up with Mr. Nillasca, and the forces exerted by Mrs. Caslib for us to understand the different laws of Physics- these things became part of me. Without you, we are no one. Rest assured your efforts to mold us into better individuals will not be put into waste.

I would also want to show gratitude to my classmates and friends with whom I shared my tears and smiles. I thank you for accepting me as who I am. You understood my errors. I will excruciatingly miss our moments together and the unbreakable bonding we had.

Schoolmates, whom we will be entrusting our Alma Mater, thank you for believing in my leadership abilities. Offering service to you is truly fulfilling in my part. Being the Student Council Organization President, I hope, in behalf of my co-officers, that we had met your expectations and that we stamped a mark to your minds.

Batch mates, this is not yet the finish line. We are now about to enter another portal going to a highly competitive and more demanding world. We will be introduced to a vast field of opportunities and choices all ours to pick or reject. Remember that perseverance is the passport to reach the apogee of success.

Finally, this event would not be possible without the roots of this prominent institution. To the administrators, we commend you for maintaining the quality of education that will surely produce the next generation of professionals. Being a part of this elite family is really something to be proud of.

Fellow graduates, congratulations! May the Lord richly bless us all! Thank you and good evening!
